Molly Schroeder is a Technology Integration Specialist for Edina Public Schools. Prior to working at the district level, she taught 5th grade for 10 years. She is a Google Certified Teacher and Google Apps for Education Certified Trainer. She presents at conferences, workshops and conventions around the world on how to integrate emerging and engaging technologies into the classroom. She is one of the founders of Flipped Education, a company dedicated to providing relevant technology integration professional development for educators and technology education consulting. She helps to produce the Google Apps for Education Summits around the US and world.

If you find an app that you think would be beneficial for students, please email Patty Tzortzis with the name of the app and a description of how it can be used in the classroom. Make sure to include the target grade level and if you have examples of how this can be used, please include it in your email.
Once it is reviewed, it will be put on a list of possible apps to add in the near future.
To improve home-school communication and better engage families and students, some of our teachers are piloting the use of a web design tool that simplifies design and promotes effective communication. This tool is free and it is called Weebly for Education. This website (Instructional Technology) is created and updated frequently using Weebly.
Teachers who opt to use a tool other than FirstClass RWD (Weebly, Wikis, etc) shall provide the following disclaimer on their FirstClass RWD page:
"District 65 supports a home-to-school connection using a variety of technology tools, including teacher web pages. This site is designed to support that home to school connection with parents and students, but is independent of the District site. The creator is solely responsible for the content therein.

In order to import a photo from the camera roll, you must first do the following:
1. While in Doodle Buddy, click on the Tic/Tac/Toe button which is on the bottom row.
2. Click the home button to go to settings > privacy >photos
3. Make sure Doodle Buddy is set to on.
4. Go back to doodle buddy, click the Tic/Tac/Toe, click photos and now you can acces the photo library.

Teachers and students can use the brochure template in Pages in their classes. For example, some of our elementary school teachers are having the students research about cities in order to create a travel brochure. The students incorporate social studies and science during this part of the investigation, while practicing reading and writing. Here is a tutorial on how to use Pages to create a brochure about New York. The video shows how the students can add and format their own content.
Remember that teachers in our district can schedule an appointment to meet with a member of the D65 Instructional Technology team and train you on how to use Pages, plan the activity with the students, and provide support during the activity.
